AbstractShow abstract
Skin and respiratory diseases, as well as tumours are the most frequently diagnosed diseases in pet rats. From among all the types of tumours found in this species of animals, fibrosarcoma is rarely observed. In this clinical case, a fast growth of fibrosarcoma and it is expansion in the left middle and inner ear led to a head tilt (torticollis) and facial nerve paralysis on the same side and were a decisive argument for euthanasia. The aim of the study was to reveal that the individual approach to each patient and a thorough clinical examination are extremely important. They allow to avoid mistakes, put a correct diagnosis and start an appropriate treatment.

Abstract: The injuries of the knee joint and the cranial crucial ligament rupture are the serious problems in veterinary medicine. The importance of above mentioned traumas correspond to the great number of publications devoted to the subject and variety of the healing methods used in surgical treatment of the knee joint. Despite of many time consuming scientific investigations and clinical experiments, accessible methods qualification and quantification gives ambiguous or various results. Although the continuous development of the surgical techniques, some serious complications occurs. Our work presents potential complications occurrence after the extracapsular implantation of WKD prosthesis and solving methods used with significant participation of the sonography.

TitleETIOPATHOGENESIS OF HEART FAILURE IN HYPERTENSION AND HYPERTHYROIDISM IN COMPANION ANIMALS
AutorPaulina Nieśpielak, Albert Czerski, Wojciech Zawadzki
Pages23–30
Keywordsheart failure, left ventricular hypertrophy, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, chronic kidney disease, triiodothyronine
AbstractShow abstract
Hyperthyroidism, hypertension and chronic kidney disease have been associated with cardiac dysfunction. The cardiovascular signs and symptoms of these factors are a constellation of abnormalities that includes increase in afterload, left ventricular hypertrophy, systolic and diastolic dysfunction. An increase in LV wall stress will stimulate remodelling of the myocardium with a disproportionate increase in fibrous tissue and is a strong risk factor for congestive heart failure.
