TitleHYDROTECHNICAL STRUCTURES IN PROTECTED AREAS
AutorAndrzej Ciepielowski, Agata Włodarczyk
Pages3–21
Keywordsprotected areas, hydrotechnics, weirs
AbstractShow abstract
The article introduces the requirements, that the damming devices should fulfil, taking under attention new tendencies in hydrotechnics and the principle of sustainable development. The problems of constructing and correct exploiting of damming devices and their impact on the natural habitats of protected areas was presented on the example of the Kampinoski National Park. The measures necessary to adopt the existing damming devices, for fulfilling ecological functions were presented. The necessity of establishing a controlled water management was stressed.

TitleMECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF TURFS
AutorSzczepan L. Dąbkowski, Kazimierz Garbulewski, Kinga Pachuta
Pages23–35
Keywordsturf, mechanical properties, test methods, direct shearing, pull-out test, shear strength
AbstractShow abstract
The laboratory measurements of rooted soils (turfs) for 15 years and 6 months old are presented. In case of 6 months old turf two plant species were used: Alopecurus pratensis and Phalaris arundinacea. To assess the strength values for turfs the direct shear tests and pull-out tests were made. Shear stress on the sliding planes oriented parallel to the surface depends on the dimensions of rooted soil sample, the plant species and the rate of soil deformation. The shear strength values of turfs increase with the increasing of deformation rate.

TitleCRITICAL SHEAR STRESS IN OPEN CHANNEL WITH FLAT SANDY BOTTOM
AutorKatarzyna Marisch, Zbigniew Popek
Pages37–53
Keywordsbeginning of bedload movement, critical shear stress, sand-grain height
AbstractShow abstract
In this paper a methodology of shear stress determination and the main results of experimental investigation on the beginning of grain’s movement of sandy materials are presented. Six kinds of alluvial sand with mean grain diameter d50 = 0,20–1,7 mm and different uniformity and regularity of granulation ware used in experiments. The measurements, in steady uniform flow conditions in laboratory flume with rectangular cross-section and sandy bottom were carried out at variable water depths and bottom slopes. Investigations confirmed influence of granulation irregularity of sandy bed material on dimensionless critical shear stress. Based on measurements carried out in range Re* = 3–55 were determined expressions for sand-grain height of flat bottom surface in conditions of beginning grain’s movement, with consideration of uniformity and regularity of granulation.

TitleINFLUENCE OF SCALE MODELS OF THE DAM ON LOCAL SCOUR
AutorSzczepan L. Dąbkowski, Piotr Siwicki, Janusz Urbański
Pages55–66
Keywordslocal scour, time scale, modeling
AbstractShow abstract
Paper presented analysis results of investigations of influence scale model on formation of scour in time. Investigations were conducted on two model this same taired constructions with the over of water above the closure, bottom of water basins and washing-out area. Models were made in two skales 1:30 and 1:55. In inwestigations were used this same eroded material on two models – sand (d50 = 1,1mm, = 1,77). Estimated change of parameter for morfological time scale between two models of the dam. In Froudian models with a nonlinearly scaled size of sand grains the maximum depth of local scour develop slower than their linear counterparts in prototypes, except for the initial stage of scour.

TitleTHE EULER’S MODIFIED THEORY OF STABILITY WITH STRESSES AND STRAINS ANALYSIS ON EXAMPLE OF VERY SLENDER CYLINDRICAL SHELLS MADE OF STEEL
AutorKrzysztof Murawski
Pages77–92
Keywordsstability, Euler, critical stress, very slender, cylindrical shell
AbstractShow abstract
The study presents the description of the loss of stability in elastic states of axially compressed cylindrical shell. The author analysed the differential equation of the deflection curve and its slope, the critical stress, the shell stresses and strains of very slender tubes in elastic states under conditions of flat cross-sections and little slopes of the deflection curve. The obtained theoretical results of critical stresses were related to slenderness ratio and to cross-section area of the cylindrical shells. The obtained theoretical results of stresses and strains were presented on graphs for an example of the tube made of steel.

TitleSTATICAL FIELD LOAD TESTS OF THE PRESTRESSED CONCRETE ROAD BRIDGE OVER WATER PLANT ON WATER RESERVOIR
AutorZbigniew Mańko, Arkadiusz Mordak
Pages93–107
KeywordsKey words: concrete span, deck plate, road bridge, pre-stressed beam, requirements and acceptance test, statical field load test
AbstractShow abstract
The paper is presented the results of experimental research conducted on the new prestressed concrete road bridge over water plant on water reservoir across Nysa Kłodzka river in Topola under statical field load tests. The examined bridge was first time weighted so large loads and presumably followed fitting oneself of some structural elements to oneself, especially of parts of bearings, what appeared in the results of bearings and bridge spans under static field loads. On the base of the obtained results from research and calculation the behaviour of tested span structures was evaluated before putting it to the normal service, what it was permitted to evaluate an effectiveness of such solutions.

TitleUTILIZATION LIQUID SOLAR COLLECTORS TO HEAT WARM USEFUL WATHER IN ARCHITECTURE OF BUILDING
AutorJarosław Dąbrowski, Edward Hutnik
Pages129–140
Keywordssunny energy, sunny installation, efficiency of applying
AbstractShow abstract
The article presents the possibilities of gaining solar energy used for heating warm utility water in housing building, in Polish climatic conditions. The values of energy that can be gained during the year in Polish conditions, the selection of optimal angle of collectors inclination and the rule of functioning and design of exemplary solar installation are provided. A simulation of annual operation of an exemplary solar installation was conducted by means of “ESOP” program of Viessmann company.
