TitleAPPLICATION OF GIS TECHNOLOGY TO ASSESS THE AFFECT OF SEA LEVEL RISE ON AGRICULTURAL LAND. CASE STUDY OF NGHIA HUNG DISTRICT, NAM DINH PROVINCE
AutorLe Thi Giang, Tran Quoc Vinh
Pages7–14
Keywordssea level rise, land use, GIS
AbstractShow abstract
Global sea levels are rising and this change is expected to accelerate in the coming century due to anthropogenic global warming. Any rise in sea level promotes land loss, increased flooding and salinisation. The impacts of and possible responses to sea-level rise vary at the local and regional scale due to variation in local and regional factors. The coastline of Vietnam is more than 3,260 km and stretches across from north to south. Here occur a series of interactive processes between the land and the sea, between the dynamic force of rivers and the sea, between the natural and human processes, etc. Recently, sea level rise due to climate change is serious global threat. Therefore, a study to assess the impact of sea level rise on agricultural land fills a critical need. In this paper, we focus on the application of GIS technology to analyze and predict the impact of sea level rise on agricultural land use of this coastal district. The results will help managers and policy makers to make the right decisions in agricultural land use and adaptation strategies for climate change.

Gardens for the disabled people are important because they fulfill an important function. People can relax and take care of plants and trees. Second they learn to work, stay in the community and communicate with him. Garden should be designed using special technical norms. Stairs, walkways and ramps should have special dimensions tailored to disabled people. In this concept plants are designed special for disabled people. Flowers, shrubs and trees are properly chosen, so that don't have spikes, thorns, poisonous fruits and that don't have stinging leaves. Existing plants with such characteristics have been removed. Plants were used, which differ because of the smell, colour, texture of the leaves. Fragrancy and colour will help blind children find themselves in the field.

Keywordsthe public space, the city park, the attractiveness of the park space
AbstractShow abstract
The main aim of this article was to carry out the assessment of the attractiveness of the space of the Park of Prof. Wanica in Olsztyn using indicators and measures of attractiveness, created for this study. The main aim was reached by the realization of detailed aims within the framework of which: the notion of a city park in the aspect of the public space was defined; indicators, measures and rules of the assessment were also worked out. The selection of evaluated elements of the space was made based on findings of inquiry carried out among users of the analyzed park space. TitleCHANGES TO HISTORICAL SPATIAL ARRANGEMENTS OF VILLAGES WITHIN OLSZTYN SUBURBAN AREA, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO BRĄSWAŁD, DOROTOWO AND JONKOWO
AutorSławomir Sobotka
Pages39–58
Keywordschanges to historical spatial arrangements of villages, degradation of villages, suburban area, inflow of people, comparative cartography
AbstractShow abstract
This paper presents the results of research for PhD thesis entitled: "Spatial development within Olsztyn suburban area against the background of Changes to Agricultural Landscape". Spatial range of the research covered all villages situated within Olsztyn suburban area. In order to illustrate changes to rural arrangements, data of the second half of the 19th century, of the years 1920s and 1930s, and the contemporary data (of the years 2010-2013) were compared. Villages were located in Olsztyn suburban area from the 14th to the 19th century. Subdivision of landed estates in the 19th century initiated changes to rural settlement arrangements. In particular, after the Second World War, disturbances occurred to the originally existing spatial arrangement of villages. In the 1970s, this was due to the development of multifamily residential buildings and outbuildings associated with the location of State Agricultural Farms (FGRs). Historical spatial arrangements of villages (oval village, linear village and row village), being subject to moderate building pressure (as compared to the values found in villages located within Olsztyn suburban area) have primarily got degraded, while those with heavy construction traffic have got homogenized i.e. have been changed into multi-road arrangements. What is thus being formed is the "space without qualities". The phenomenon addressed in the paper is relating to both the volumes of people inflow and the development of single-family residential buildings, in particular after the year 2000 (suburbanization process), and the emergence of new, often ineffective network of access roads. Most villages in Olsztyn suburban area were characterized with the inflow of people in the years 2000-2010, while for the rest of them, the inflow was either equal to zero or negative. In the period under study, a significant increase in the population (over 50 people) took place in 36 villages (1 % of the total). This results in either the emergence of multi-road arrangements or degradation of spatial arrangements of the villages. Total increase in the population size in Olsztyn suburban area amounted to 23.5% in the years 2000-2010. Changes to (degradation of) historical spatial arrangements of villages within Olsztyn suburban area was discussed further based on the example of Brąswałd (commune of Dywity), Dorotowo (commune of Stawiguda), and Jonkowo (commune of Jonkowo).

TitleCOMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF SELECTED EUROPEAN NATIONAL GEOPORTALS
AutorAgnieszka Dawidowicz, Monika Sońta
Pages59–76
Keywordsgeoportal, INSPIRET
AbstractShow abstract
The main aim of the study was to analyze and assess the progress of work on the implementation of the INSPIRE Directive in selected countries of the European Community. The adopted method of analysis is based on a system 0-1, which allows for the assessment of selected spatial information systems in the adopted point scale. Selected systems were analyzed in terms of their functionality, availability of selected data and spatial data services, user interfaces and the authorities responsible for the creation and maintenance of systems.
