AbstractShow abstract
Protection of the environment is manifested not only in the specific legal actions or investigations but also in the field of education. Environment can be protected indirectly, by developing attitudes, awareness and responsibility towards environment. Tools that can be used to popularize research on local scale are the techniques and software which enable the construction of interactive applications. Their publishing via the Internet may affect the growth of environmental awareness of local communities and their interest in environmental issues of the neighbourhood. The paper shows some of the tools and programming techniques that have been used for the preparation of interactive web applications. The application presents content related to the characteristics of the water environment Bonar in Czernichow community. The feature focuses on the presentation of the reservoir shoreline vegetation zones.

This paper presents the concept of historic restoration of the palace and park in the style of calligraphy in Krzesimow, Mełgiew commune. Today the building houses the Nursing Home. Based on the inventory dendrological conducted in 2011, found a progressive degradation of the park. Action is needed revaluation aimed at restoration of assumptions and improve the health of trees.

AbstractShow abstract
The subject of this paper is a park at the 19th-century manor house in Jaszczów, Milejów commune. The manor was built in the early 19th century and it is one of the oldest wooden mansions in the Lublin region. The building is ingle-storeyed manor house, with a porch with two pairs of columns and wide stairs from the garden. The manor house belonged to Gen. Kicki, who was killed in the Battle of Ostrołęka during the November Uprising. General Ludwik Kicki was an adjutant of Prince Józef Poniatowski. In 1828 the court hosted Fryderyk Chopin. At the entrance to the house there is an 18th-century shrine in the Baroque style. In the course of a detailed dendrological inventory in 2009 in the Manor Jaszczów designated 20 trees, 10 single shrubs and 8 groups of shrubs, 2 vines and brushwood of Fraxinus excelsior L. A forest stand in court Jaszczów is represented by 14 species and varieties of trees. In terms of numbers dominate: Malus L. (orchard), Prunus domestica L. subsp. domestica (6 pieces) and Fraxinus excelsior L. (5 pieces). The greatest natural and historical value have monuments of nature: Tilia cordata Mill. with a circumference of 5.5 meters, Larix decidua Mill. with a circumference of 3.2 meters, and Tilia tomentosa Moench with a circumference of 4.9 m which is situated next to the chapel. Currently, the parcel on which there are the remains of the old manor house and ornamental garden covers an area of 0.65 hectares.

Number of urban parks in European countries ins very diversified for example 2954 parks in Germany, 1876 parks in Spain and 110 parks in Poland. The next stage of the paper was to represent diversity parks designing on the past and nowadays.

AbstractShow abstract
The main aim of the study was diversity of flora along path tracks in CieżkowiceRożnowski Landscape Park. Field and indoor studies were conducted in years 2006–2012. Every year of the study it was done 700 phytosociological records along paths tracts and inside the forest. Forest plants from Querco-Fagetea were dominated there. More plants from Molinio-Arrhenatheretea, Stelarietea mediae and Artemisietea vulgaris were occurring along paths tracts than inside the forest community.

The paper presents results of the shear strength tests carried out on the ash-slag mixture from Skawina Power Plant as well as the results of interphase frictional resistance tests on the contact of the mixture and nonwoven geotextile Secutex GRK 401-5C. Tests were performed at three values of compaction indexes, such as IS = 0.90, 0.95 and 1.00 and at the moisture content close to optimal. There were high values of the angle of internal friction and cohesion of the ash-slag mixture and the interfacial friction angle and adhesion on the contact of the mixture and nonwoven geotextile, which distinctly depended on the compaction. This confirms the usability of the mixture for earthworks purposes as a separate material as well as in the system with nonwoven geotextiles.

This paper presents the transformation of the hydrographic network of the middle section of the river Peony covering at microcatchment joint sosnowickich. The analysis was based archival topographic maps of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The first civil works executed during the interwar period included the construction of fish ponds and a system of ducts to water them. As a result of the work carried out in the village Sosnowica established 25 pond, currently function 11. Major changes in the economy in the area of joint Sosnowica occurred in connection with the construction of Wieprz–Krzna Canal, where in the 60’s upgraded almost all the ponds. Changed the source of water supply and water management system of the system of independent bead canal. In 1963, as a result of dehydration of the project was building drainage Piwonia-Uhnin. Inventoried length of the water in 2011 was: River Piwonia – 2.9 km, KWK – 3.0 km, furrows – 11 km, ditches joint –30 km. The total length of the hydrographic network was 45 km in the catchment area of the ponds sosnowickie 28.7 km2 which corresponds to a density of 1 km · km–2.

AbstractShow abstract
The study shows the results of calculations of dimensionless sediment delivery ratios DR with ten different formulas. Various DR results were obtained. In order to specify the possibilities of using particular formulas the results of the average annual sediment load were compared with the results of calculations obtained by DR-USLE method. Having acquired the hydrological data of on mean 24 hours’ flows and the results of measurements of suspended sediment concentration at the Kotań water-gauge on the river Wisłoka the mean annual sediment load was specified. Taking into consideration the calculated annual sediment load over the span of 33 years average of sediment transport was determined which was compared with value calculated by DR-USLE method. The obtained results were different and ranged from 13.7 to –336.9%. This shows that there is no reason to use some of those analyzed formulas to specify sediment delivery ratio in the basin of Wisłoka river. The least differences were obtained with the use of Williams and Berndt formula as well as Roehl formula and Williams formula.

In the paper some methods for identification of the monotonic deterministic trend in hydrological time series were presented and discussed: the t-test, the Mann-Kendall test with corrections, the Theil-Sen estimator with the test based on bootstrap and the prewhitening method. The tests varied in assumptions on the existence of the serial correlation and the distribution of the variables in the series. Occasionally, when assumptions were not fulfilled, the tests led to contradictory conclusions. As examples, the applications to annual maximum and minimum flows were presented.

AbstractShow abstract
Along the paper the variability of the average monthly rainfall in Warsaw and Zakopane based on empirical data from the years 1965–1990 are described. To describe that variation of rainfall the sum of harmonics was used because it better reflects the seasonality of multiple extremes. It has been proven that the total annual rainfall in Warsaw during these periods decreases significantly. It is of great importance for agriculture, when climate and the temperature increases. Next, the formula for calculating the average monthly rainfall from day t1 to day t2 , useful in agriculture, was introduced, in the model way. Finally, the usefulness of this model for whole months was veryfied, basing on the empirical data which were available – it must be said that very good agreement was obtained. Also it has been shown that the average monthly precipitation extremes in remote locations of Poland are not postponed, but have distinctly different values.

Results of geotechnical research of two shallow landslides in Owczary near Gorlice induced by torrential rainfall in 3–4 June 2010 are presented in the paper. The main purpose of the paper was analysis of rainfall infiltration process and its influence on slope stability conditions. Analysis of transient seepage were done using one-dimensional infiltration Iverson and Green-Ampt models, and two-dimensional model using physical Richards’ equation. The calculation results performed for analyzed slopes revealed that during considered rainfall were preferable conditions for infiltration process. The rainwater could have seeped up to impermeable layer and formed perched groundwater table inducing seepage forces. Comparative analysis of tested infiltration models showed also that the numerical model based on Richards equation and Green-Ampt model give comparable results of calculations but results of matric suction changes calculated using Iverson model were much smaller than results obtained using numerical method.

The results of shear strength parameters of soils from Szymbark Winiary are presented in the paper. Determination of the influence of moisture content on values of shear strength of tested soils was the subject of the test. The second aim of paper was comparison results of theoretical calculation of shear strength using semi-empirical methods for evaluation of shear strength of unsaturated soils (Vanapalli et al. [1996], Matsushi and Matsukura [2006]) and results of direct shear strength tests. Results of tests revealed that the increase of moisture content causes decrease in shear strength and shear strength parameters of tested soils. Calculations of shear strength revealed that values of soil resistance determined using Matsushi-Matsukura method give good agreement with results of shear tests.
