TitleApplication of analytic and simulation models to description of germination process of buckwheat seeds biostimulated magnetic and electric field
AutorBożena Gładyszewska, Krzysztof Kornarzyński, Stanisław Pietruszewski
Pages3–12
Keywordsmagnetic biostimulation of seeds, electric biostimulation of seeds, germination capacity, simulation and analytic models
AbstractShow abstract
In this work the results of research of pre-sowing alternating magnetic and electric field biostimulation of frequency f = 50 Hz on buckwheat seed are shown. The seeds were divided into five samples of 100 units each and biostimulated with stationary and alternating magnetic field, stationary and alternating electric field and then placed on Petri dishes. The estimation of biostimulation influence was calculated on the basis of periodic count of germinated seeds and with the use of two mathematical models. On the basis of the calculations it was ascertained that the analytic model transcribes the experimental results of electrically stimulated seeds well, while for the rest of the samples the quality of curve matching is much worse. The simulation model better describes the process of germinating for every doses and fields used.

TitleTransfer of water and soluble substances in osmotically dehydrated apples
AutorHanna Kowalska, Andrzej Lenart
Pages13–22
Keywordsstorage time, osmotic substances, blanching, plant tissue
AbstractShow abstract
Osmotic dehydration of apples was carried out in solution of sucrose and starch syrup. Temperature of dewatering was changed from 30 to 50 and 80ºC. Time of dehydration was varied from 0 to 180 min. Osmotic dehydration of apples depends on storage time, blanching, the kind of osmotic substances and temperature. When the time of storage is longer, osmotic dehydration is more intensive, because tissue structure of apples has some loose. The using sucrose solution gives 2 times much value of solids gain and water content in apples than by using solution of starch syrup. The most significant changes of water content, water loss and solids gain took place during osmotic dehydration of apples in 80ºC temperature. Osmotic dehydration of blanched apples was much intensive then without blanching.

TitleImpingement technique in thawing of food and agriculture products
AutorDariusz Góral, Franciszek Kluza
Pages23–31
Keywordsthawing time, impingement, food thawing
AbstractShow abstract
Possibility of impingement for food thawing process was studied. Also prediction of thawing time was tested. The carrot, potato and apple formed as a 1 cm × 1 cm × 1 cm cubes were thawing on impingement laboratory stand. Calculation of thawing time were realised using Plank’s model. It can be assumed that the using of impingement thawing led to thawing rate near rate of thawing in water. Results of statistical analysis provided to statement that the calculated thawing time obtained after Plank’s model lead to value with 24.8% error.

TitleEnergy consumption of wheat grain during shearing dynamic process
AutorLeszek Romański, Roman Stopa
Pages33–41
Keywordswheat grain, shears dynamic process, energy
AbstractShow abstract
The results of investigations on energy consumption of wheat grain during shearing dynamic process for eight variety of winter wheat were introduced. The method of energy measurement has been presented. Influence of mass of crumbled grain, his moisture content the proteins and vitreousity of grain for energy consumption was talked. Tests for two different positions of grain in relation to shearing force directions were made. Two levels of fertilization were taken under consideration during preparing this paper.

TitleAplication of speckle pattern interferomery method in measuring of displacement of carrot’s root cross-section
AutorLeszek Romański, Roman Stopa
Pages43–54
Keywordscarrot root, strength properties, speckle pattern interferometry, displacement, deformation ESPI
AbstractShow abstract
Results of investigations on displacement of carrot’s root cross section using electronical speckle pattern interferometry method (ESPI) were introduced. Methodology of measurements of displacement of biological materials and description of test stand was presented. Maps of displacement of carrot’s root cross-section in its plane as well as in the transverse direction were determined. The graphs of displacement, deformation and relative deformations of cross-section in direction of loaded force were determined on the base of the maps of displacements.

TitleInfluence of thermal processing on the cutting force of rice grain
AutorBeata Ślaska-Grzywna
Pages55–60
Keywordsrice, thermal processing, cutting force
AbstractShow abstract
Paper presented heat treatment influence on the cutting force single rice grain of three different kinds. It was used three kinds of rice grain: brown rice, white rice and long rice grain. Rice was treated of microwave power 800 Watt and 1000 Watt for 11 and 16 minutes and it was traditional boiled in water for 30 minutes. The rice samples was taken every minute during microwave treating and every 5 minutes during traditional boiling. Simple rice grain was put to cutting trial. It was used Instron 4302 apparatus with rate of knife 50 mm·min-1 for cutting force measure. It was used double sites sharpened 2 millimeters thick knife. It was found that time of processing to obtain identical cutting force valve depend on kind of rice, time and method of heat processing. Identical cutting force valve of rice was obtained in shorter time at microwave heating of 800 and 1000 Watt than traditional boiled rice for all kinds.

TitleTheory of share digging unit in sugar beet harvesting machines
AutorWładimir Bułhakow, Iwan Gołowacz, Aleksander Szeptycki
Pages67–74
Keywordssugar beet, harvesting, share digging unit
AbstractShow abstract
The motion of a soil layer together with a sugar beet root fixed in it along the surfaces of a pair of flat, oblique shares is analysed. During the last phase of this motion a beet root gets in direct contact with planes of shares. The influence of share position angles onto the machine maximum allowable forward velocity was defined at which, in particular soil conditions, the end part of the root would not be broken and left in the soil. Assuming the value of the vertical force binding the beet root with the soil as 0.2 kN and unitary resistance of soil already loosened by shares as 2.0 kNm-2 and taking the apex angle of the beet root come as 20–28º, the highest value of the machine velocity limit may be achieved when the angle 2γ of the divergence of shares will be kept between 26 and 32º and the angle β of deflection of share plane from vertical will be 30º.

TitleAnalysis of the influence of liquid mass stream and the load of milkline of pipeline milking machine on the average vacuum for the milking phase in the teat cup
AutorAdam Luberański, Danuta Skalska, Józef Szlachta
Pages75–87
Keywordsrecorder milking machine, load coefficient of the milkline, average vacuum for the milking phase
AbstractShow abstract
Changes of average vacuum for milking phase in a teat cup of recorder milking machine was analysed. Analysis was conducted with 6 milking units working, installed one after another in front of measuring unit which was connected to milk tap most distant from receiver of milk line from branch (return line for washing is situated above the milk transfer line). In the article major influence of stream of liquid simulation of milking rate Qm and load coefficient of milkline Ko, being a total influence the stream of liquid and transient air admission on changes of average vacuum for the milking phase is shown. By full load of milking installation, with 6 milking units working, the decrease of vacuum at the teat end (by 21 kPa) is influenced by the decrease (by 16 kPa) of vacuum caused by stream of outflow of liquid (milk) Qm in measuring unit and the decrease of vacuum (by 5 kPa) caused by load of milkline Ko.
