The Canoe-fishway is a rather new concept of fishways. A lot of thin and elastic elements were used to built it – it works like vegetation. The big advantage of this type of construction is that it may be used by kayaks and canoes to pass an obstruction in the river without danger of destroy it. The velocity profile is divide for two part: lower velocity on the brushes level and higher velocity above the brushes. Energy dissipation within this type of fishways is very effective. The large number of bristles produce many small vortex which initiate energy consumption by the velocity of water.

Dendroflora Zawieprzyce park comprises 26 taxons (2010). The total of 381 trees was inventoried. The dominant tree species in the park are those associated with the communities of fertile broad-leaved forests. The most numerous is Tilia cordata Mill., Fraxinus excelsior L., Acer pseudoplatanus L. and Carpinus betulus L. On the basis of an inventory conducted in 2010 to protect the monumental six copies were identified. The park is devastated and has a free network paths. Entrance to the park from the west side leads by a Baroque gate. Before entering there is a mound with a column and Greek iron cross. In the band there is a common compositional axis in the system of buildings. The dominant building is the ruins of the palace, which the building lumber, barn, outbuilding of the palace chapel and courtyard form. At the eastern end of the park’s conservatory, which is in ruins. The former northern boundary assumptions set arcaded wall fragments. Historically, the team were Nadwieprzańskie meadows with ponds.

River valleys with high natural values are very important elements in agricultural and urban landscape. Many of them are without natural plant communities because of disturbances by man. The aim of the paper was landscape evaluation of the Biała river valley in Tarnów and formulate direction for tourism. The Biała river valley was divided into 7 natural-landscape unities (1 unit = 1 km length). Landscape evaluation was conducted on study area. It was distinguished 3 types of areas with different landscape values: areas with very high, high and medium landscape values. There were no areas with low landscape values.

The paper presents geotechnical characteristic of bottom sediments from Rzeszowski Reservoir. They were classified as silty soils in liquid state, with organic parts content above 2%, therefore classified as organic. Averaged material, that came from mixing all sediments samples, was classified as silt with low permeability, large surface area, increased organic parts content and relatively high values of shear strength parameters. Based on carried out analysis it was stated that tested sediments can be preliminary accepted for forming soil liners in municipal waste disposal sites.

The results of survey and hydrometric measurements and calculations made in the aim of the study of the rating curve of the cross-section in the river Dłubnia situated 810 m above inlet to water reservoirs were introduced in the work. The intensity of the water flow was calculated on the basis of the hydrometric data using the Harlacher’s method and for the help of the Chézy’s formula. It was stated that the water flows calculated using Chézy’s formula were considerably higher than determined the Harlacher’s method. The water flow calculated using Chézy’s formula with water depths carrying out 1.00 and 1.06 m is suitably above five times and above 1,5 times higher than calculated on the basis of hydrometric measurements. This difference gets smaller together with enlarging the water depth. The cause so considerable differences of the got calculations results of the water flow intensity is the influence of the arrangement of the longitudinal profile of channel bottom, disturbed the influence of the bridge. Methodology and the results of the assessment of the technical state of the concrete water building were introduced in this work, worked out in frames one-stage diagnostics. The weir of the dam of water reservoirs in Zesławice was chosen to the assessment. Apart from the study of the technical assessment of the studied object, indication of the competence effect of persons making the assessments of the technical water building on the result of this assessment was the aim of the work. The assessment of the technical state of the weir was executed according to the methodology proposed by Zawadzki [2005]. The technical assessment of the hydro-building was executed in two phasis. The second phasis of the diagnostics was executed after instructions. In every phasis of the diagnosis was participated eight groups of engineers – the students of the second degree studies in Environmental Engineering and Geodesy Faculty Agricultural University in the Cracow. The change of results was defined for the help of the difference of the sums of the squared residuals, calculated on the basis of the results of the assessments of second and first phasis of the diagnostics. The results of the students assessments were referred to the results of the expert opinion. The conducted technical state assessment of the dam weir of water reservoirs in Zesławice shows on the more less than good state – the assessment according to the expert carries out 3.9. Average from final assessments of first phasis of eight groups carried out 3.1. However in second phasis of the assessment, after the instruction, average from final assessments of the eight groups of students carried out 3.7. It was stated that initiated investigations relating to the impact of the competence of persons making the technical assessments of the water building on the result of this assessment showed, that unsatisfactory knowledge and the lack of experience contributes to lowering the results of the assessment.

The description of the reconstruction of the fragment of the hydrotechnical system Łączany was introduced in this work. This system has the essential influence on the threat flood the of the locality Zarzecze. The executed surveys and hydraulic calculations of the appointed cross-sections of the section of the main channel R, this hydrotechnical system made possible the qualification of the cause of the flood threat of the terrains of the locality Zarzecze, located in the zone of the influence of the water barrage Łączany. The decrease the conveyance of studied section of the channel R was affirmed, i.e. from the km 4+050 to the km 4+113, from the value 3.19 m3 ∙ s–1 (acc. to Reclamation design… [1957]), to the value 1.06 m3 ∙ s–1. The lower conveyance was caused become decrease of the surface of the cross-section and decrease of the slope of the bottom, in the result of the reconstruction of this part of channel during the execution of the passage with the culvert. Water discharges about larger intensity than 1.06 m3 ∙ s–1, stepping out from the channel R, flowing in to the pumping station channel burden pumping station Zarzecze. In the case of water discharge with larger intensity the water store in the pumping station channel, and after crossing of his capacity follows submergence of the terrains of the locality Zarzecze.

The main aim of the study was to evaluate the diversity of herbaceous plants cover developing in the soda waste dumps in Krakow and to discuss importance of postindustrial sites for maintaining the biotic diversity. The soda waste dumps were reclaimed by covering with a topsoil, sowed with grass mixture and left without further treatment. In the investigated area 132 plots were laid out on which 133 species of herbaceous plants were identified. Species diversity on individual plots (alpha diversity) was relatively low (average Shannon-Wiener index 1.79), but the plots (beta diversity) differed considerably in species composition (the van der Maarel’s coefficient in 87% cases was less than 0.4). The species occurring on the dumps were typical for many different plant communities, but meadow species and ruderal species predominated. The analysis of Ellenberg indicator values showed the highest variation for the fertility index N. Species dominating the soda waste dumps are those usually found in moderately dry and dry habitats and with neutral soil pH. The reclamation method in which a topsoil layer of low thickness was used prevented succession towards forest communities on the soda waste dumps. Because of this, non-forest communities, that are generally richer in species, can develop. The main threat to species diversity is the development of expansive species, especially the wood small-reed.
