TitleCONTEMPORARY MAPS OF POLISH ADMINISTRATIVE ISTRICTS IN THE LIGHT OF OPINION AND EXPECTATION OF USERS
AutorJacek Górski
Pages17–25
Keywordsmap of district, map design, map users
AbstractShow abstract
Maps of administrative districts may be regarded as one of the popular publications in Poland. These are commonly available and meant in the main for tourists; typical range of scale is 1:50 000–1:120 000. Since there are no standards of these maps, users remarks and views can be useful guidelines at the map designing. An opinion poll is a way to learn about them. Question of the general character, conditions of use, scale, scope of content, inset maps, descriptive part with additional components and layout were included in the inquiry form. In the presented paper, respondents’ opinions are discussed (for in- stance, transportation and touristic contents seems the most important) with a quantitative summary.

TitleIDENTIFICATION REFERENCE SYSTEM OF LEVELING NETWORK AN AREA OF LEGNICA-GŁOGÓW COPPER DISTRICT
AutorMaria Mrówczyńska
Pages27–36
Keywordsreference system, outlying observations, model of vertical displacements
AbstractShow abstract
The article presents an attempt to determine the vertical displacements of points located within the area controlled Legnica-Głogów Copper District. Displacements have been found on the basis of measurements carried out in leveling the years 1967 to 2000. In the first place to identify and eliminate gross errors the estimation method of strengths have been applied. Then, the calculations carried out in a reference system defined on the basis of the algorithm, consisting of two phases. The first stage concerns the initial identification, which consists in determining the unit vector basis of increments of internal characteristics, which stem from two periodic measurements (initial and current), the second step is to study the reaction of the observation in the course of solving the following adjustment tasks caused by increase in the number of points covered by the stability condition.

TitleDECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR OPTIMISATION OF MARGINAL RURAL AREA DEVELOPMENT
AutorMałgorzata Leszczyńska
Pages37–48
KeywordsGIS, expert system, decision support system
AbstractShow abstract
This article presents issues related to the development of a system supporting decision-making concerning optimization of development of marginalized rural areas. The described decision-making support system, based on the spatial information systems, could constitute a perfect tool for facilitating the preparation of developmental strategies of marginalized rural areas, for saving money and time and above all for the implementation of the sustainable development principles and for determining long-term simulations of the human effect on the environment. This system can also help in the determination of the developmental directions of restructured rural areas and in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the following types of programs: protective, support or easing of social and economic problems. The GIS technology in this system constitutes a natural frame which provides a comfortable method of analysis and representation of information connected with the spatial and architectural components, data management, allowing the integration of extremely different types of information as well as detailed and general knowledge. The expert system connected with the geographic information system is the most important element of the described decision-making support system. It allows to store complicated knowledge on the natural, economic and social processes in the form of rules. Using a specially developed algorithm, this knowledge is combined with knowledge of natural and anthropogenic forms stored in a specially designed database. This study describes the particular elements of the system and justifies the selection of the presented solutions.
