The aim of this paper is a multilayered thick plate with longitudinal gradation of materials. Every layer contains of two isotropic, homogeneous components which are in a plane strain
The stationary, one-dimensional heat conduction problem for transversal FGM was investigated. The influence of the boundary layer effect on the distribution of temperature fields in transversal FGM thick plate was considered. The plate was built of two homogeneous, isotropic heat conductors
The paper presents slope stability analysis of main dam embankment of Nielisz reservoir. Due to large thickness of organic soils deposited at the construction site and spatial variability of soft soil properties the structure was constructed in two stages with additional preloading fills. This paper presents slope stability analysis based on extensive field and laboratory tests executed before and during embankment construction by Department of Geotechnical Engineering of Warsaw University of Life Sciences. Calculations were carried out for each stage of embankment execution with use of limit equilibrium methods and were restricted only to construction phase of the structure. Special attention was paid to signifi cant effectiveness of flat dilatometer tests in undrained shear strength determination and it’s usefulness in slope stability analysis.

Nowadays, when floods devastate also our country special attention is put on hydrotechnical structures. One of them is dam embankment of Nielisz reservoir, which one of major goals is to defend the upper Wieprz River basin from flood. This paper presents finite element analysis of dam embankment of Nielisz reservoir made with Plaxis using Modified Cam-Clay soil model for organic mud. Performed analysis allowed to define shape and size of displacement accumulation zones and rotations of principal stress directions which occurred in them. Use of devices which are capable to investigate anisotropy of soil mechanical properties is severely restricted, thus it is practically impossible to take into account this matter. Solution to this problem may be evaluation of proportions between values of shear strength parameters obtained from triaxial compression tests with standard stress path with values of this parameters obtained from tests in hollow cylinder apparatus with different stress paths, more adequate for in situ conditions.

The main subject of the present thesis was an examination of concrete mixtures designed in accordance with the PN-B-06250 standard. The obtained results were referred to the ranges of consistency classes in accordance with the PN-EN 2006-1 standard. The subsequent objective of the thesis was the verification of legitimacy of use of literature water indicators in the context of obtaining assumed consistency classes of concrete mixtures. The research carried out in a laboratory was preceded by detailed calculations concerning selection of particular ingredients of concrete.
