TitleGermination of amaranth seeds cv. Aztek and Rawa at various temperatures
AutorAgata Dziwulska-Hunek, Krzysztof Kornarzyński
Pages3–10
Keywordsseeds of amaranth, germination, temperature, mathematical model
AbstractShow abstract
Amaranth is one of the oldest crop plants in the world, originating from South America and more and more frequently referred to as the cereal of the 21st Century. The period of amaranth vegetation is 160 days. The optimum temperature during vegetation is 26–28°C, and it grows and develops the best within the temperature range of 16°C to 35°C. In the laboratory experiment the germination capacity of seeds was determined. Amaranth seeds were sown on Petri dishes, at 100 seeds per dish in a climate – controlled chamber at temperatures of 10°C, 12°C, 15°C, 20°C, 25°C, 35°C, 45°C, 55°C, in total darkness. Parameters of seeds germination of amaranth cv. Aztek was obtained by modeling of logistic curve: NT = NK [1+exp(β– Kt)]-1. Germination of amaranth seeds of both cultivars, for all the kinds of stimulation and for the control samples, was the highest at temperatures of ca. 20°C and ca. 42°C, and the lowest at 10°C.

TitleFarm buildings in Poland – present status and trends of changes
AutorEdmund Lorencowicz, Adam Włodarczyk
Pages11–22
Keywordsfarm buildings, investment in agriculture
AbstractShow abstract
In polish agriculture are used about 2.8 millions of farm buildings with value 70 000 millions PLN. The degree of consumption is about 75%. The yearly investment input in years 2000–2006 reached from 700 mln to 1 300 mln PLN. It is anticipated that investment input will grow, but with lower rate than actually.

TitleThe influence of some chosen parameters of infrared radiation dehydration of apples on their ability of absorbing water
AutorAndrzej Wesołowski
Pages23–32
Keywordsdehydration, infrared radiation, rehydration, fruits, apples
AbstractShow abstract
Abstact. This elaboration shows the results of research work on rehydration ability of Lobo apples, that had been dehydrated with infrared radiation. Four different sets of infrared radiators were used: the total power of 200, 550, 900, 1250 W each set. Slices taken from apples were the samples. After the level of water balance had been reached by the samples, they were plunged in distillated water of the temperature of 20°C. The highest rehydration coefficient RC was reached by the sample that had been dehydrated with infrared radiation of 550 W. No real difference of rehydration coefficient RC was found for the samples that had been dehydrated with infrared radiation of 900 W and 1250 W.

TitleThe amount of single transported loads depending on the type of load and the size of production sales
AutorStanisław Kokoszka
Pages33–39
Keywordsload size, use of load capacity, transport mass, agricultural transport, transport means
AbstractShow abstract
The research done and the analysis of the results allowed to assess single transported lots – size of loads depending on the type of load and the size of production sales. This analysis may become helpful in planning of purchases of new means of transport in the context of load capacity and its use.
