TitleSELECTED PROBLEMS CONCERNING MAINTENANCE OF STRUCTURES
AutorJan Ślusarek
Pages3–21
Keywordsmaintenance of building structures, sustainable building, sustainable development, thermal insulation protecting, durability, repair and rehabilitations methods
AbstractShow abstract
Many building elements, due to their destination, are exposed to the influence of external environment, often very aggressive. Due to that such building elements should be protected in a special way. I have presented the outline of problems related with maintenance of building structures, taking into account the principles of sustainable building. I have paid extra attention to the characteristics of local environment conditions and to their influence on the response of selected building elements. Building materials should be characterized with such features that will assure that the structures, in which they will be installed, will meet the requirements referring to service features. In this paper requirements regarding structural-material solutions for structures, bases for diagnostic tests and the essence of repair and rehabilitation of building structures has been discussed.

TitleMATHEMATICAL MODELLING OF FUNCTIONALLY GRADED MATERIALS IN POLAND
AutorWiesław Nagórko, Czesław Woźniak
Pages23–32
Keywordsfunctionally graded materials, FGM, averaging techniques
AbstractShow abstract
The lecture contains a general revues of results in the mathematical modelling of FGM and structures obtained in Poland. The main attention is posed on the application of the new nonasymptotic method of micro-macro-modelling. This method is based on the tolerance averaging technique of differential operators with discontinuous and highly oscillating local periodic coefficients which for microperiodic materials was developed in Woźniak and Wierzbicki [2000].

TitleRECTANGLE PLATES WITH LEAP VARIABLE THICKNESS EXPANDING TEMPERATURE LOAD
AutorAnna Szymczak-Graczyk
Pages33–43
Keywordsfinite differences method, plate, tank, plastic glass
AbstractShow abstract
In this article analysis results of static work rectangle plates with leap variable thickness expanding temperature forces has been presented. Temperature is one this loads, which very often is not consider in calculations. And this lead to design mistakes and big exploitations problems. To research used numeral solutions – variational method fi nite differences. In this way obtained solutions was checked by model verification.

TitleTHE ANALYSIS OF THE RESULTS OF THE CONCRETE MIX CONSISTENCY EXAMNATION WITH REFERENCE TO THE LIMIT INTERVALS ACCORDING TO PN-EN 206-1 AND PN-88/B-06250
AutorKonrad Podawca
Pages45–57
Keywordsconcrete; concrete mix; consistency; the Ve-Be method; the propagation table method
AbstractShow abstract
The paper presents the comparison of the results of the consistency test with the Ve-Be and spilling table methods with the limit intervals included in PN-EN 206-1 and PN-88/B-06250. The analysis of the results has shown to what consistency classes the concrete mixes made according water ratios assigned to the word designations of a dump, thick-plastic, plastic, semiliquid and liquid consistency can be counted. In the research, there was used the Ve-Be method according to the PN-88/B-06250 as well as the spilling table method, introduced along with PN-EN 206-1. Key words: concrete; concrete mix; consistency; the Ve-Be method; the propagation table method

TitleARCHITECTURAL FORM OF CORNER HOUSES
AutorZuzanna Borcz
Pages59–70
Keywordstown planning, corner houses, architectural form, historical transformations
AbstractShow abstract
In towns and small localities the corner building plots exist; the houses on these parcels have a special architectural form. In the history of urban planning streets and squares had the densely built-up frontages. After the Second World War a well-spaced housing development, not directly connected with streets arrangement began. Recently the partial return to dense building-up of traffic roads occurred, therefore the design of corner houses has been necessary. Since the architecture of corner houses corresponded with trends of given periods, the eclectic, secessional, modernist and post-modernist buildings are to be found. The presented examples show corner houses in small and bigger towns built after arious architectural trends. Many corner houses have interesting form reflecting the creativeness of contemporary architects.

TitleTHE EFFICIENCY OF WASTEWATER TREATMENT IN HORIZONTAL SUBSURFACE FLOW CONSTRUCTED WETLANDS
AutorAgnieszka Karczmarczyk, Józef Mosiej
Pages79–88
Keywordsbed media, BOD5, domestic wastewater, reed bed
AbstractShow abstract
Constructed wetlands are commonly used for suspended solids and BOD5 removal from wastewater. The most popular system is horizontal subsurface fl ow constructed wetland with the significant share of systems based on Kickuth licence. Long term treatment efficiency monitoring data for two reed beds are presented. The decrease of BOD5 reduction from wastewater has been observed during the monitoring period. Signifi cant role of permeability of the soil used for bed construction has been pointed out. Key words: bed media, BOD5, domestic wastewater, reed bed
