TitleNATURAL EVALUATION ON EXAMPLE OF BRZESKO TOWN
AutorBeata Fornal-Pieniak, Czesław Wysocki
Pages5–16
Keywordsevaluation, natural environment, town, Brzesko
AbstractShow abstract
Green areas are very important in natural system of urban landscape The main aim of the study was natural evaluation on example of Brzesko town. Brzesko was located on south part of Polend on malopolska voivodship. Research was done in 2008, 2009. Natural evaluation included few stages of work: field research, division study area into special-landscape units, criteria, bonitation points, natural evaluation. It was distinguished areas with very high natural values, areas with high natural values, areas with medium natural values, areas with low natural values. Areas with medium natural values were dominated on Brzesko town.

TitleBIODEGRADATION OF SELECTED PETROLEUM PRODUCTS UNDER VARIABLE ENVIRONMENTAL TEMPERATURE AND PH CONDITIONS
AutorMałgorzata Hawrot-Paw
Pages17–23
Keywordsbiodegradation, microorganisms, oil products
AbstractShow abstract
In the paper is presented the biodegradability of selected petroleum products with the participation of selected bacterial strains of the genera Pseudomonas sp. and Bacillus sp. The experiment was carried out on liquid culture media. The examined products were found to show different biodegradability, with maximum value ranging from 65% for gear oil, through 90% for diesel fuel to 95% for motor oil after 28 days of incubation. The study results point to highly significant effect of environmental factors, i.e. temperature and pH, on the speed and efficiency of the course of biodegradation process, with optimal conditions for the examined products being within the range of 6.5–8 for pH and 5–25°C for temperature.

TitleTHE APPLICATION OF ONE DIMENSIONAL MODEL NUMERIC MORMO TO THE CALCULATIONS OF THE CHANGES OF THE ORDINATES OF THE BOTTOM OF THE SMALL WATER RESERVOIR
AutorBogusław Michalec
Pages25–32
Keywordssmall water reservoir, silting, forecast, one dimensional model
AbstractShow abstract
The hydraulic parameters of the flow of water and sediment with the assumption of the steady flow and the changes of the geometry of cross-sections are defined standard mathematical methods for the help of one dimensional models. The one dimensional model MORMO (MORphologisches MOdell) is example of such model, worked out by Schilling and Hunziker [1995] in the Hydraulic Engineering Laboratory of Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. The numeric calculations of silting the Rzeszów water reservoir, on the basis of the thirteen-year-old sequence of hydrological, including the average hour flows of water and the answering them concentrations of suspended sediments, executed for the help of the program MORMO, they were compared with the results of the measurements of silting. Affirm that the obtain for the help of the one dimensional model MORMO the longitudinal profile of the water reservoir in Rzeszów, representing the change of the bottom in the result of silting, its answer the real course of the bottom changes. The proceeding of the real course of silting was not obtain because the time of silting, definite according to the simulation turned out shorter until real silting time, carrying out 13 years.

TitleREHABILITATION OF MOUNTAIN STREMS AND RIVERS – TECHNICAL AND SOCIOLOGICAL ASPECTS
AutorArtur Radecki-Pawlik
Pages33–42
Keywords river rehabilitation, meandrous river, mountain stream
AbstractShow abstract
Along the paper the project of rehabilitation of one of the Germans streams is presented, the Föritz creek. The project focused on morphological changes along the Föritz stream, in particular the changes of stright river channel into meandrous channel, with stable discharge sutable for fish and makroinvertebrates.

TitleBALNEOLOGICAL USAGE OF THE GROUNDWATER IN THE SELECTED REGIONS OF SOUTH POLAND
AutorKrzysztof Chmielowski, Stefan Satora, Andrzej Wałęga
Pages43–53
KeywordsBalneology, mineral and therapeutic water, groundwater therapy
AbstractShow abstract
This paper deals with the groundwater exploitation in some regions of South Poland and using them for the therapeutic purposes. The objective regions are Bochnia, Iwonicz Zdrój, Krynica, Kraków-Mateczny, Muszyna, Piwniczna, Rabka, Rymanów Zdrój, Swoszowice, Szczawnica, Wysowa, Złockie, and Żegiestów Zdrój in which mineral and therapeutic waters of balneological quality can be found. They are being used in different therapeutic procedures, eg.: baths, pool baths and other water reservoirs as well as in rinsing and compresses. They can also be used in drinking cures, called crenotherapy and in inhalations, called aerosolotherapy. Salty sulfate and sulfide carbonated water are most often used for treatment of rheumatic diseases, bicarbonate-calcium or magnesium, bromide, iodide carbonated water as well as bromide-iodide brines are useful in upper and lower respiratory ways’ diseases, whereas bicarbonated waters are useful in the gastrointestinal tract’s diseases.
